I wrote a lengthy article about the reference and explained all the versions that Rolex created. Most of Kari Voutilainen's watches are custom orders. His small team of fewer than two dozen people makes just about 30 link watches per year. Recently, a physically larger customer with bigger wrists wanted to order something that he felt suited his frame better. So, instead of ordering a watch in the standard 39mm Vingt-8 case, he opted for the same design, just in 44mm. Kari told me this isn't the first time he's done something like this, though it's extremely uncommon. The new Panthère comes in two sizes, small and medium, measuring 22mm and 27mm in diameter respectively. Both sizes feature the same square case with screwed-down bezel and linked brick-lay bracelet with concealed folding clasp. All are powered by a quartz movement, which isn't ideal, but this watch is not about technological advances.Timex has always had a whiff of practicality, purpose, and accessibility, while Leiber has a distinct Dallas vibe to it – both the city and the TV show. Its products arrive noisily, like a champagne flute thrown across the room.

That includes the new stainless steel pieces and engine turned dial versions as link a result of the partnership with Kari Voutilainen. At the same time, though, if you're Tudor you pretty much know going in that the watches are going to pass. This is not to say the testing is in any sense pro forma, but the real work in a sense happens before watch ever meets water or 15,000 gauss magnetic field. If you're not basically 100 percent sure the watches are going to pass at the start of the 10-day test period, you're doing something wrong.

SB: I saw a phenomenal Heuer Cortina on Instagram the other day. All link the type is rendered by hand and beautifully spaced. Legibility is off the charts, and there's even some flair in the details. It is a flawless execution. Its helium valve, easy-to-read luminescent hands and index markers, 300-meter water-resistant case, unidirectional bezel and screw-in crown make this a true divers’ watch.Every click of the chronograph pushers is reassuring, and every turn of the bezel sounds and feels competent. The main visual attraction on both the front and back is the skeletonized Rado R808 caliber.
